Workshop on “Cyber Crime and Its Relevant Law” conducted for the people from NE states

Technologies have eased / changed the way of life these days. The phenomenal growth of computer usage, email, internet, social networking sites, mobile etc. has brought the world closer making it a smaller place to live in. However, it has also brought a new threat using computer / technology called ‘Cyber Crime’ in our society. Many people have become victims to hacking, theft, identity theft, malicious software, cyber stalking and child soliciting and abuses. Even, these practices, on the other hand, are grappling with multiplying cyber threats coming from transnational crime groups to terrorist groups. The remedial measures for all such threats could only be to minimize the cyber crimes by imparting awareness to the users.

As a part of ongoing legal awareness program, the Association of Manipuri Diaspora (AMAND), Pune, which is a registered non-profit, non-government community organization formed by Manipuri professionals working in / retired from the Central Government or Maharashtra Government or other reputed Institutions based in and around Pune, has organized a workshop on ‘Cyber Crime and Its Relevant Law’ in association with Symbiosis Ishanya Cultural and Educational Centre (SICEC), Pune to spread awareness amongst people of NE States staying in and around Pune on Sunday, 19th April 2015 at the ELTIS-SIFIL Auditorium, Symbiosis International University, Pune. The workshop provides do’s & don’ts in the scope and context of international cyber-crime standards and conventions, legal resources available, the handling of electronic evidence, procedural cybercrime legislation in the prosecution and punishment under cybercrime law as well as IPCs.

Resource persons of this workshop, Shri Rajesh R Bansode, Dy. Commissioner of Police (Economic Offence Wing & Cyber Crime), Pune Police and Dr. Sanjay Tungar, Inspector, Cyber Crime Cell, Pune Police had deliberated on the topic which was followed by a fruitful interaction with the audience.

AMAND, Pune also highly acknowledged Shri Th. Premkanta Singh, the workshop coordinator for his selfless efforts and coordination in making this program a grand success.
