571 candidates to contest ADC election

IMPHAL, May 6: Altogether 571 candidates belonging to different political parties will contest in the ensuing ADC election 2015 against 144 seats in the six hills district.

The scrutiny for candidature nomination papers will be conducted at Imphal West DC complex on May 7.

According to State Election Commission, the last date for filing nomination paper for the candidates is today. And all the 571 candidates have submitted their nomination papers.

Out of the total 571 candidates, 94 are from Sadar Hill District with 22 from BJP, 23 from INC, 8 from INC, 6 from other political parties and 35 independent candidates.

For Chandel district, a total of 111 candidates have filed nomination papers with 18 from BJP, 22 from INC, 14 from NPF, 2 from other political parties and 55 as independent candidates.

Whereas for Churachandpur district, 122 candidates filed nomination papers amongs them it included 18 from BJP, 7 from INC, 2 from other political parties 95 as independent candidates. Interestingly, no candidate from NPF has come out to contest from the Constituency.

For Tamenglong district, 85 candidates have filed nomination papers. It included 23 from BJP, 17 from INC, 22 from NPF, 1 from other political party and 22 as independent candidates.

While for Ukhrul District, altogether 98 candidates have filed nomination papers amongst them it included 22 from BJP, 20 from INC, 25 from NPF, 3 from other political parties and 28 as independent candidates.

As for Senapati district, a total of 61 candidates filed nomination papers including 18 from BJP, 3 from INC, 24 from NPF and 16 as independent candidates.

The total number of candidate for BJP is 121, 92 for INC, 93 for NPF, 14 for other political parties and 251 as independent candidates.
