IMPHAL, May 21: Congress candidate from 24-Torbung ADC Limkhojam Haokip`™s election agent has claimed that the Congress candidate was stopped by cadres of Suspension of Operation signatory group United Kuki Liberation Front along with election agents of the BJP candidate from conducting an election campaign at Molcham yesterday.
Limkhojam`™s agent Thongtaopao Guite told IFP that the incident happened around 1pm yesterday when the candidate accompanied by the agent himself and some 15 workers were going for the campaign.
He said UKLF cadres John Gangte and Jamsat who were brandishing guns threatened the Congress candidate from campaigning.
The two were also accompanied by three election agents of the BJP`™s candidate from the district council constituency, he claimed.
He further identified the BJP agents as Lunkhongam, Nanangmang and Thongkholem.
The UKLF cadres are under the control of the 6th Dogra Regiment, he further claimed.
He further said the Dogra Regiment should try to remain aloof to the situation.
