IPSA appreciates supporters of general strike called against land encroachment

IMPHAL, May 24: The International Peace and Social Advancement (IPSA) has expressed gratitude towards the people of Singjamei area, Jiribam, Thoubal, Torbung, Khumbong, Keithelmanbi, Bamon Kampu, Sagolmang, etc for supporting and jointly taking part in the 24 hours general strike imposed in connection with the territorial integrity of Manipur.

According to a release of IPSA, appeal has been made to the people of Manipur to support and join any movements taken up in connection with Manipur territorial integrity.

IPSA has stated that the association along with the people of Manipur will support the economic blockade to be imposed by the committee if the Manipur Government fail to bring any positive steps towards the land encroachment at Dzuko and Kozuri.

IPSA has further stated that the Manipur Government`™s lack of commitment towards the state border issue is lamentable. It has appealed to the Manipur government and India government to bring a speedy solution as soon as possible to try and bring an agreement between bordering states, it said.

Moreover, it has also appealed to the concerned authority of Manipur University to make special arrangement for those candidates who could not attend the BA and B.Sc examinations due to the general strike, it said.

A press release of the Elite Foundation Manipur has demanded the Manipur government to take up actions immediately to stop the land encroachment by Nagaland at the border of Manipur.

It has further appealed the government to arrange a meeting with all political parties and NGOs and bring a resolution so as to avoid any untoward incidents, it said.
