Tension erupts at Thoubal over disappearance of girl hosteller

IMPHAL, May 5: A girl hosteller of the Thounaojam Ureka Academy Thoubal under Waikhom Police Station had gone missing today from her hostel, igniting a tension at the area.

According to sources, the minor girl from Chairel Ahallup, Thoubal district, was found missing around 4.17 during routine roll call before their morning walk.

The minor girl was studying in Class VII standard and was reportedly enrolled this year.

For a month she has been on leave due to an illness, said the sources, adding that she returned to the hostel yesterday accompanied by her elder sister.

Sources said that the school authority launched a massive hunt besides informing to the concerned police station.

Subsequently, an enraged mob comprising of family members and supporters, stormed the school and had heated argument with the authority there.

In the meantime, AMSU Thoubal District led by its leader Moirangthem Prabin, came to pacify the tension.

Taking serious note of the sudden disappearance of the minor girl, the AMSU leader instructed the school authority to prevent such incident from recurring besides appealed to all the CSO, NGOs to extend their co-operation to trace the whereabouts of the girl.
