UKLF refutes report on threatening workers of ADC candidate

IMPHAL, May 24: The United Kuki Liberation Front has clarified that the news reports published in some local dailies wherein the outfit threatened workers of Limkhojam Haokip, ADC candidate from Torbung A/C, Chandel dist to stop the election campaign is totally baseless.

A press release of UKLF said that the outfit followed the resolutions of the chiefs and public leaders accordingly and appealed to all the intending candidates to obey the resolutions of the public and to not go beyond it.

The outfit has not indulged in disturbing the election activities of any candidates till today, it said.

According to election code of conduct, all SoO armed groups are not permitted to roam outside their camp but Chairman of KNLF, Helun Haokip, and his Home Secretary, along with five cadres are staying peacefully at New Samtal village and disturbing election activities of BJP candidates. Helun Haokip, claiming himself chief of the village, some time call candidates to his village for purpose of dictating and at other times send out warnings to them thereby disturbing their election activities. The concern authorities need to look after this, the release stated.

The recent removal of KNLF camp from Semol village by 6 Dogra regiment of Moltuh was done under the direction of the MHA, Government of India, in pursuance of the repeated request of the public of the area. Here, the 26 sector Command, Pallel, and 6 Dogra of Moltuh, are very well appreciated by the people of the area since the present of a surrender group in the area is certain to disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the area, it said.

The front also thanked Assam rifles of their area in general and 6 Dogra of Moltuh in particular for their efforts to help the people of the area for ensuring peaceful co-existence, the release added.
