LAMKA, June 17: Things will take a positive turn in a couple of days, Langkhanpau Guite leader of the newly formed Hill People Alliance said regarding the formation of the District Council Churachandpur.
In all 17 independent candidates who were elected in the recent ADC election had decided to float the new alliance just a couple of days ago.
In an informal chat with media persons yesterday, Guite said something will materialise regarding the ADC Churachandpur formation in the next couple of days.
He said Lalhosan of Tipaimukh has been appointed the vice president of the alliance through secret ballot yesterday morning.
Guite who was flanked by the secretary of the alliance Genneikhup said HPA is not a political party but an `alliance of the willing and like-minded successful members`
The alliance has the 17 elected Independent candidates as members and signatory of a promise to work for the cause of the hill people, he said.
Guite also said anyone from any political party is also welcome into the alliance as long as they will support the inspiration of the people.
He said the alliance will work for the causes of the people and development.
It may be mentioned that although June 17 was the last date for the formation of the new DCCs, due to certain issues, the government has delayed the formation of the councils.
Meanwhile, the two elected leaders also expressed happiness over the extension of the Suspension of Operation between the UPF and the government and said the extension is a positive step and will inspire the Alliance to work in the interest of the people of the hills in general and the district in particular.
Replying to a query, Guite said it is not surprising that his opponent could garner only two votes.
He said people of his constituency had promised to reward him for his good works.
The result was also evident as the opponent had no polling agent nor any supporter, he continued.
