IMPHAL, June 22: A combined team of District Police Commando, Imphal West and 12 BIHAR Regiment D-Coy has conducted cordon and search operation in some suspected houses of Mongshangei near Lai Leirak on June 21.
According to a release of the PR, Police Department, during the operation, an active member of KYKL organisation, namely, Huidrom Surjit Meitei alias Bikas, 29, son of H. Babu Meitei of Mongshangei Lai Leirak was arrested.
Investigation revealed that he collected huge amount of money from general public, government employees and businessman of Imphal area for party fund. Incriminating articles were seized from his possession. A case has been registered at Singjamei Police station and investigation is going on, it said.
In another press release, a combined team of Bishnupur District Police Commandos, a column of 12 BIHAR Regiment and 7 Assam Rifles has conducted search operation at Kodompokpi Mamang Leikai.
During the operation, one active member of RPF/PLA organisation, namely, Namoijam Jemkanta Singh alias Nanao, 22, son of N. Brojen Singh of Ningombam Makha Keikai a/p Kodompokpi Mamang Leikai was arrested, it said.
One 9mm pistol along with three live rounds were seized from his possession. Investigation revealed that he had recruited new cadres for PLA from Nambol areas, extorter money and collected information on movement of security forces.
A case has been registered at Nambol Police Station and investigation is going on, it said.
In yet another release, a combined team of Bishnupur District Police Commandos and 6 Assam Rifles ahs conducted search operation at Moirang Khunou area on June 20 and arrested one S/S Sergeant Major PLA organisation, namely, Ningthoujam Dhamen Singh alias Tamlen, 42, son of N. Shamu Singh of Moirang Khunou Khongnangkhong Leikai, it said.
One 9mm pistol along with 2 live rounds were seized from his possession. A case has been registered at Moirang Police Station and investigation is going on, it said.
