Loaded tankers reach capital ahead of eco blockade

IMPHAL, Jun 22: Ahead of the indefinite economic blockade imposed by All Tribal Students`™ Union (ATSUM)-Muan Tombing group along the National Highways with effect from June 22 midnight in pursuance of its long pending demands, several loaded oil tankers have reached Imphal this late evening.

However, the number of tankers could not be ascertained as few are still left to report to the depot of Indian Oil Corporation Limited at Chingmeirong.

The loaded oil tankers including LPG bullet tanks were escorted by CRPF personnel to ensure that it reaches Imphal before the commencement of the economic blockade.

Meanwhile, breaking the normal schedule, around 70 empty oil tankers have left Imphal to fetch fuels from various supply points today morning around 11.
