IMPHAL, July 3: The main objective and intention of forming Rongmei International is nothing but to become a better Manipuri stated duputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam during the observance of first`™ Rongmei International`™ foundation day cum annual meet held today at the Tribal Research Institute, conference hall Chingmeirong.
Speaking as the chief guest of the function Gaikhangam asserted that the Rongmei tribe though few in numbers inhabit different parts of the State and abroad.
He said the observation aims to bring unity of all Rongmeis on earth and also to promote feeling of oneness which is rooted in the common origin.
Moreover it is also very important and vital that the individual knows `who am I in the first place and responsibilities and duties towards our mother earth, our country, our state and so on` he added.
He also said that Rongmei International is an adjective of Manipuri International Diaspora extending as one unit in spreading and in making stronger the objective and aim of MID.
Each and every one of us should contribute something for the cause of the society not confining only within the State but all over the globe he added.
Gaikhangam also lauded the Rongmei leaders for bring up such association and also appealed to all the people of the State to support and cooperate for better relationship and understanding among the communities to bring a harmonious society.
Giving the keynote at the function T Pamei, IAS also vice president of Rongmei International stated that the Rongmei International was established on 3 July, 2014 and its area of operation will be the State of Manipur.
He further highlighted that the aim and objectives of RI is to support creativity among the Rongmei to fuel for higher achievements and also the visionary/potential in visionary/potential individual/leader and organisation on the frontline of social, educational and economic transformations of the Rongmei society.
The RI will also intervene in specific identified cause such as extending education scholarship, grants, etc to achieve maximum impact and giving opportunities in higher education particularly to those in cutting edge Greenfield areas like IT, R and D in bio chemistry, aerospace, green energy technology and other threshold level in any field he said.
The RI also aims to network all Rongmeis on Earth to share experiences and opportunities; extend mutual help and cooperation so as to promote feeling of oneness which is rooted in our common origin and with Rongmei`™s Civil Societies and other cognate brethren civil societies at multiple levels with the objective to bring about better understanding to resolve and reduce areas of conflict he added.
The governing body of the RI will support/fund/extend financial or material help to those in urgent need particularly in times of natural disaster and manmade calamities etc he added.
T Pamei also said that the RI will research, record and catalogue on the pioneering works and achievement of the Rongmei in all aspects of the community history and institute and confer rewards, awards and accord other forms of recognition for outstanding achievement of Rongmei at National and international levels and also to bring together members as when called for in the service of our society he opined.
Brief report of RI was read out by Dr C Mathew Kamei during the function and the annual meet agenda were membership drive and resource mobilization, annual action plan and other miscellaneous.
The function was also attended by Janghemlung Panmei, MLA, Tamenglong A/C, LP Gonmei, IAS (Retd) president Rongmei International and Kunjakishore Golmei, treasurer, RI.
