CADA seizes contraband drugs

IMPHAL, July 26: The Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) has apprehended a non-Manipuri with a large amount of pharmaceutical drugs on July 26.

According to a release of CADA, the non-Manipuri has been identified as Indira Prasai, 60, wife of Kumar Prasai of Char Hazar and currently residing in a rented house at Kanglatombi.

From his pharmacy Sirjana Medicos located at Kanglatombi Bazar, CADA along with Advance Women`™s Society Awang Sekmai, Sekmai Koujengleia Club, Kanglatombi Bazar Board Meira Paibi seized a large amount of Alprazolam and 20 bottles of Nukof cough syrup, it said.

According to the locals, Indira has been selling narcotics on the pretext of running a pharmacy for a long time. The seized drugs have been burned by the members of the organisations at Kanglatombi Bazar, it said.

Appeal has been made to give support to CADA and Meira Paibis in their drives to be held at Sekmai areas, it said.
