`High Court stays disqualification order against MLA Lukhoi`

IMPHAL, July 31: AITC MLA O Lukhoi Singh has claimed that the High Court of Manipur today stayed the ruling passed by Speaker Tribunal of Manipur Legislative Assembly wherein he was disqualified from being an MLA in accordance to the 10th Schedule of Constitution of India.

Talking to this daily, MLA Lukhoi Singh who was elected to 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly from 22-Wangoi Assembly Constituency said that he was disqualified from being an MLA by a ruling passed by the Speaker Tribunal of Manipur Legislative Assembly on May 27 last.

He informed that a petition was filed in the High Court of Manipur today challenging the ruling passed by the Speaker Tribunal which was admitted by the court.

Conducting hearing of the case today itself, the court stayed the disqualification order, he claimed.

However, he has not received the official order of the judgement passed by the court till late night but he expressed optimism that the order will be received tomorrow.

Details of the order will be made public through the media once it comes in the hands tomorrow, he said.
