IMPHAL, Jul 21: Due to incessant heavy downpour of rain accompanied by strong wind for the last two days in Tamenglong district, paddy fields in different parts of the district including Noney have been submerged under water and affected by soil erosions in the low lying areas.
Farmers in the area are apprehensive whether they will get annually targeted grain crops. Water level of Ijei and Iril River is flowing above the danger mark due to the heavy rain. Many drains are also overflowing. Landslides have been also occurred in many parts of the district.
Following the disturbing development caused by the heavy rain, farmers of the districts have appealed to the concerned department to intervene into the matter and access the loss and damaged crops.
