IMPHAL, Aug 1: An armed cadre reportedly sustained bullet injuries in a fierce gun fight that broke out between two factions of a Kuki underground outfit at Bongbal Kholen under Saikul Sub-division in Sadar Hills this early morning.
The site where the incident took place falls under the jurisdiction of Yairipok Police Station in Thoubal district.
According to villagers, cadres of the armed factions engaged in the gun fight belong to Kuki National Front (Nehlun). The firing between the heavily armed cadres began at around 7 am and continued till 11 am.
In the ensued firing, an armed cadre belonging to one of the factions suffered bullet injuries.
Identity of the injured underground cadre could not be established. However, it is reported he was rushed to a hospital based in Imphal.
Gripped by the firing incident, the villagers have appealed to the concerned underground outfits to not repeat such deadly factional clash in their village in future.
No one has reported the incident to Yairipok Police Station till the time when this daily enquired the concerned police station about the incident.
