IMPHAL, August 16: Women folks of Imphal East District and West District continue to come out in large numbers to join demonstrations and sit-in protests demanding the implementation of the Inner Line System in Manipur.
At many places long human chains marked the protests. These were seen along the Imphal-Dimapur road and the Ngariyan route. Human chain protests have become familiar ever since August 15.
The Kontha Khabam Maning Leikai Women folks held sit-in-protest at Yaipha Shindam Naharol Club community hall yesterday. More such demonstrations were also seen along the NH-2 in the Imphal-Dimapur sector. The demonstrations hindered free flow of traffic along these roads.
Human chains and sit-in-protest were also seen as Pheidinga bazar, Loitang Khunou, Loitang Leikinthabi, Khurkhul and Motbung Khunou women yesterday.
The demonstrators voiced slogans such as `implement ILP soon` `we want ILP` `punish police personnel who killed Robinhood` etc.
In Imphal East district at Keirao Bitra, Langdum, Khanarok, Chanam Sandrok, Thiyam Konjil, Keirao Wangkhem, Yaipharok Maring Club and Meira Paibis demonstrated sit-in-protest at Langdum Lamkhaida yesterday. Later the women conducted a rally till Bamol Kampu area.
