Robinhood JAC lifts boycott on MLA Biren

IMPHAL, August 31: With the government passing the three bills to safeguard the indigenous people during the last day of the special sittings of the Assembly today, the JAC Against the Brutal Killing of Sapam Robinhood alias Thoi, Lairikyengbam Leikai Imphal East has lifted boycott of MLA of Heingang Constituency N Biren from today.

Making the announcement in a press release, the JAC acknowledged the role of MLA Biren who is also one of the Members of the government appointed Drafting Committee in passing the three bills namely the Protection of Manipur People Bill, 2015; Manipur Land Revenue and Land Reforms (7th amendment) Bill, 2015 and Manipur Shops and Establishments (Second Amendment) Bill, 2015 in the House.

The MLA was boycotted following a past incident related to the passage of the bills, it said.

Asserting that time has come to reconsider the resolution to not hold talk with the government on the killing of Robinhood till the ILPS issue is resolved, the JAC in the release said that the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) and public will be consulted if any talk with the government is to be held.
