57 loaded oil tankers reach Imphal

IMPHAL, September 10: Providing some relief to the present fuel scarcity in the State, a total of 57 loaded oil tankers reached the State capital safely today.

All Manipur Petroleum Transporters`™ Union (AMPTA) and All Manipur Petroleum Tankers`™ & Drivers`™ Union (AMPTDU) had told media persons yesterday that the loaded oil tankers will reach the capital today.

The 57 loaded oil tankers include 19 each of petrol and diesel tankers, 16 K/Oil and three ATF tankers.

The tankers which were escorted by CRPF personnel arrived through the Imphal-Dimapur Road (National Highway-2).

Upon the arrival of the oil tankers, Indian Oil Company Limited (IOCL) allocated 4 KL each of petrol and diesel to each of the oil pumps situated in different districts including Imphal for distribution to the public as for September 11.

On the other hand, several loaded oil tankers stranded at Jiribam have also started heading for Imphal. The tankers will reach the capital either tomorrow late evening or day after tomorrow.

However, those loaded oil tankers which were not stranded at Jiribam earlier will be heading towards Imphal through Imphal-Dimapur route not through Imphal-Jiribam Road.
