Kukis in Nagaland donates

KANGPOKPI, Sep.5: The Kuki people in Nagaland have generous contribution for the Tribal Martyrs in Churachandpur today.

Seiboi Haokip, general secretary KSO GHQ Manipur said that Kuki community living in Nagaland has donated a sum of Rs. 35,000/- for the Tribal Martyrs in Churachandpur which was handover to the KSO GHQ today to be submitted to authority concerned.

While expressing gratitude to the bighearted contribution of the Kuki people in Nagaland Seiboi Haokip said that your benevolent involvement in kind and cash would strengthen the attachment of unity among the Kukis in particular and the tribal populace in general.

Meanwhile, Kuki Inpi Assam (KIA), an apex body of the Kukis in Assam has strongly opposed the introduction and passing of the three bills in the special session of the Manipur Legislative Assembly which according to the KIA led to the collapse of law and order in Manipur and infringement of rights of the hill tribals.

The KIA in its statement signed by the Dr. T. Haolai, president KIA and Changsan Lamhen, general secretary KIA also strongly condemned the highhandedness of Manipur Police Force in controlling the protestors leading to several death of tribal youth and sought CBI enquiry into the death and demanded punishment for the guilty personnel.

Unfortunately, in case of the three bills passed by the Manipur Assembly the Indigenous People, including the Kukis, who comprise the major populace of the hill areas were never consulted nor their opinion taken into consideration which is a gross violation of the UNDRIP resolutions adopted on September 13, 2007 by 144 countries to which India is also a member added the KIA statement.

While conveying their deepest condolences to the bereaved family of the victims the KIA said we stand united with our brethren in Manipur and support their fight against injustice and discriminations.

The Kuki Inpi Assam also urges the Chief Minister of Manipur to clear all apprehensions regarding the bills and revoke and repeal the bills in the larger interest of the Indigenous Hills People of Manipur for restoring normalcy at the earliest.
