IMPHAL, Sept 10: A worker engaged in the construction of Jiribam-Tupul broad gauge railway line lost his life when some parts of Tunnel No 26 of the railway line suddenly collapsed and fell on him.
The unfortunate incident took place at Marangching under Tamenglong Police Station yesterday around 7.40 am.
The deceased has been identified as Anufuma Basumati, 23 son of Late Benga Basumati from Lalbari Katari, Assam.
Reports said Anufuma Basumati along with other works was working inside the tunnel when some parts of it suddenly caved in and fell on his head.
A case has been registered at Tamenglong Police Station in connection with the incident, it added.
