IMPHAL, Sept 2: The United Naga Council has imposed a 48-hour total bandh with effect from September 3 midnight in the hill districts especially the highways connecting to the valley, in protest against the passage of three bills by the State Assembly.
Declaring the call in a press release, the UNC said the bills passed are purely anti-tribal and a direct attack and threat to the tribal community in the State. The bandh will strictly restrict any vehicular movement in all the NHs in the districts. However, business establishment, offices and educational institutes will be exempted from the purview of the bandh, it said.
