IMPHAL, October 29: Let`™s make Thangmeiband the first constituency in the State to defeat the 13 years long reign of the corrupted Congress government which is the root cause of all chaos in the State, BJP candidate for the Thangmeiband bye election Kh Joykishan said today.
He was speaking at his reception ceremony organised by the BJP Thangmeiband Mandal held at the residence of former State president of the party Meinam Bhorot.
Continuing his attack against the ruling party of the State, he said the Congress has done nothing for the welfare of the State and its people since 2002 except for corruption and looting the public funds.
Other than the development works undertaken through the MLA Local Area Development funds, has the Congress ever taken up any development work during its long rule, he demanded.
Even before implementing the Food Security Act in the State, the Congress had already collected Rs 200 from several people, he alleged.
He also claimed that the concerned DCs have assured to take befitting action against those who had illegally collected money from the poor with the promise of including them in the beneficiary list of the Food Security Act.
Turning his attack towards the Speaker, he said several MLAs have already submitted their resignation, but the `dummy Speaker` has not approved the resignations.
It is clear that the Congress thinks the people are dependent on the government, he said.
At the same time, the Court has ordered to resume the distribution of PDS items in Thangmeiband constituency which had been restricted by the government for long taking advantage of the MLA disqualification drama, he claimed.
He openly declared that a strong BJP exists in the State and the Congress will not be given a free run to disturb the peace and development in Manipur.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has introduced several welfare schemes for the women but the prolonged Congress government rule in the State has only resulted in harassment.
While, the BJP believes in development and peace, the Congress seems to be interested in only terror and creating fear psychosis for the people, he said.
Let us defeat the Congress in Thangmeiband constituency and bring equal development to both the hills and the valley, he said.
Only the 25 thousand electorates of Thangmeiband is enough to defeat the supporters of the 48 MLAs and three MPs of the Congress, Joykishan claimed.
BJP Manipur general secretary M Asnikumar said that corruption and misuse of constitutional power and malpractice is the culture of the Congress government.
The BJP, he said will soon bring up the issue of `back door` appointment of the Speaker`™s wife in his own Assembly secretariat.
People will soon see the downfall of the `robot Speaker` who is operated by someone else, he said.
The simple function was also attended by BJP Manipur Pradesh president Th Chaoba.
