IMPHAL, Oct 1: Unidentified miscreants shot dead a man in his locality near the Khabeishoi Masjid under Heingang Police Station in Imphal East this afternoon around 5:30.
The victim has been identified as Md momo Khan, 30, son of Hanifa Khan.
Sources said he was shot at by one among two-three unidentified persons. Locals rushed him immediately to the Raj Medicity and Research Institute Centre for treatment, but succumbed.
Sources also identified the victim as a daily wage earner and why he was shot at by his unknown assailants is yet to be ascertained.
Meanwhile, the police have registered a case in connection to the killing and the body has been deposited at the JNIMS morgue.
