Nationally known experts deliberate on first day of photo workshop

IMPHAL October 26: A three day national photography workshop was inaugurated today at Manipur Press Club organized by Images of Manipur, Manipur Photo News Agency (MNPA).

Several experts namely Anil Risal Singh, president, Federation of Indian Photography (FIP); Susanta Banerjee, vice president FIP; Pradip Phanjoubam, Editor, Imphal Free Press; Tirtha Dasgupta, director, Fototechnik, star rating/ who is who FIP; Ratan Luwangcha, National Secretary, Indian Journalist Union and Hijam Nutanchandra Singh, Councillor, IMC Ward-3, patron member Images of Manipur attended the first day sessions as dignitaries and resource persons.

Jinendra Maibam the main host, in his keynote address said the national workshop is organized with the objective of infusing better skills and newer techniques to the practicing photographers of the State.

He said, `We hope that such sessions will upgrade them to increase their quality and visibility at the national level. Some of them are earnestly keen and excelling and we hope to channel their work through such interactions with veterans on the subject`

While applauding the initiative of Jinendra Maibam, Anil Risal Singh said, `Photography is a very powerful medium and has become an indispensable aspects in journalism too. However such privilege should be accompanied by equal responsibility in using it as a medium for information and creative expression`

The experts exhibited their works to explain the skills and methods of exploring the photography medium of expression. Lively interactions followed with the participants.

The national photography workshop will continue for another two days, and this will include an outdoor hands-on learning inside Kangla.
