IMPHAL, Oct 1: A suspected UG cadre was killed in a gun fight with the Army at a jungle in Khoupum Molphei area of Tamenglong district under Khoupum Police Station this morning around 8, informed sources.
Sources also informed that on receiving reliable information about some UG cadres suspected to be of the Zeliangrong United Front taking shelter in the area, personnel of the 2/5 GR had surrounded the area since last night.
This morning the Army personnel conducted an operation in the area including firing of mortars at locations where the UG cadres were suspected to be hiding, informed the source.
During the operation, the Army personnel came face to face with three suspected ZUF cadres and entered into a gun-fight, during which one of the UG cadres was killed, informed the source.
In continuation of the operation, personnel of the Assam Rifles also conducted a search operation in the area, sources said.
