IMPHAL, November 20: 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) conducted an interaction with Women Society at Ril Ram Centre Village on November 19, and women representatives of various organisations were present during the informative and fruitful interactive session, said a press release by PRO, IGAR (South).

It said, the women were briefed about the various women related welfare schemes and empowerment measures being undertaken by the government, focusing on safety of women, encouragement for the independent livelihood and awareness about the various laws recently enacted by the government.

The Women Society also commended various other projects being conducted by Assam Rifles for the society, and the function culminated with interaction of Women Society and Assam Rifles personnel followed by tea and snacks, said the press release.

Moreover, Assam Rifles Middle School, Thoubal, run by 2 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector Assam Rifles celebrated its Annual Sports Meet on November 16 and November 17 at Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School at Thoubal Ground, It said, the Annual Sports Meet was celebrated with full enthusiasm during which various events on sports were organised for the students of class one to eight in various categories, and winners in each category were awarded with medals and certificates by the Commandant of 2 Assam Rifles to boost the spirit of sportsman and competitive fervor amongst the students, said the press release.

It said, students and a school teacher of Thoubal who were part of National Integration Tour organised by the 2 Assam Rifles in the month of October from Thoubal to Delhi – Agra were presented with track suits sent as a gift by Lieutenant General Rajan Ravindran, General Officer Commanding, Delhi Area during the Tour.
