IMPHAL, November 21: 12 BIHAR of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR(S) and Th. Brachandra Singh football Academy organised Winter Sports on November 19 to felicitate the sports and festive season of Kangleipak with the theme of “Let’s play for love and peace” welcoming the Sangai festival, said a press release by PRO, IGAR (South).

It said, a football match was played between the teams of 12 BIHAR and TBSFA followed by a polo match played between Manipur Police and Khurai polo team, and the polo match was inaugurated in a traditional manner by the president and the chief guest with various cultural programmes.

The matches were attended by Brig. V.T. Mathew, Commander 9 Sector Assam Rifles and S. Manglemjao, IPS, IG of Manipur Police as the president and chief guest, while Commanding Officer, 12th Battalion The Bihar Regiment and L. Bhagaton Singh, Project Director, LDA Manipur were the guests of honour, said the press release.

It said, trophies and medals were awarded to both the teams of polo and football by the president and chief guest for their enthusiastic participation in presence of an audience of around 300 people.

Meanwhile, 2 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector Assam Rifles constructed a Water Reservoir at Langathel Village, as part of ongoing Assam Rifles Civic Action Projects, and the reservoir was inaugurated by the Commandant of 2 Assam Rifles on November 19, said the press release.

It said, the inauguration ceremony was attended by around 100 people wherein several representatives of civil administration including village Pradhan and local populace were present.

Moreover, 4 ASSAM of 26 Sector Assam Rifles organized a Pre Recruitment Rally to train the aspiring youth, which will continue for another three weeks at Moltuk, said the press release.

It said, a total of 25 candidates appeared for the Pre Recruitment Rally, and the documents of the individuals were checked and candidates were made to undergo physical and medical test in which all the candidates were shortlisted.

The event was initiated to divert the youth from anti national activities and further motivate the young generation to join the Armed Forces, said the press release.
