Bye-poll win a sign of approaching good governance: Chaoba

IMPHAL, November 24: BJP’s win in the bye-election is a sign of the good governance which will be witnessed in the State after the 2017 election and that the people wants to uproot the corrupted Congress government, said BJP Manipur president Thounaojam Chaoba following the party’s win in both Thangmeiband and Thongju constituencies.

He was speaking at a grand reception of the two successful BJP candidates at the party’s BJP office this evening.

Confident after the win, Chaoba said today we have two members, but in the 2017 election the party will have more than 40 members and come to power to bring good governance in the State.

The people of Thangmeiband and Thongju have mandated that it is the start to the end of the corruption era under the Congress, Chaoba stated.

It is the collective effort and unity of the BJP that defeated the high-handed Congress, he said.

He said now the two MLAs will work on a war-footing to strengthen the BJP in the State and formed the government after the next general election. This win will be the foundation for the preparation of the 2017 election, he added.

Further appealing to the party workers to prepare for the January 4, 2016 Municipal and Nagar Panchayat elections to elect 316 commissioners and 632 members, Chaoba said the election covers 21 Assembly segments of the Valley districts.

Chaoba also urged its supporters to work towards strengthening the party.

Newly elected Thangmeiband MLA Kh Joykishan said their disqualification from the House was a big opportunity for the BJP and if the Speaker had not disqualified them, the BJP would have been still without MLAs.

Claiming that 48 Congress MLAs were unable to defeat the two BJP candidates, he asked as to how the Congress will face the BJP in the 2017 election.
