YPA cancels protest rally against death of 20-year-old Thangliansiam

CCPUR, November 6: The Young Paite Association today cancelled its planned rally which was organised against the failure of the police to solve the alleged murder case of Thangliansiam, 20 son of (L) Thonsong of College Veng who was found hanging from a tree on November 6 under mysterious circumstances.

Speaking at the Hiangtam Lamka Public Ground where the proposed rally was to kick off, the YPA GHQ president Chinngaihpau said that the loss of young Thangliansiam is a shock for all and the YPA has taken initative as he is from the same community.

He said they will work tirelessly to book the culprit.

He further thanked his colleagues in YPA and the police and the people for all support.

He said we have asked the police to book the culprits by October 28 and since they failed we had decided to take out the rally, however, considering the present situation in the district and acting on appeals from both the DC and the SP, the rally was called off.

We should not take the law into our own hands, he called further.

We value the life lost that is irreparable, but we should also give space to the police to work, he added.

DC in charge Manmuanching speaking on the occasion said that she and the district administration pay their respect to the decease and the act was condemnable and unfortunate.

We wish that such barbaric act will be stopped, she said. SP Mangkhogin Haokip said his force is also working overtime to crack the case.

He said “We the police, and me in personal, are pained by the unfortunate incident and will do our best as we did before but certain cases can’t be cracked as soon as the wish of the people as we have to abide by the law.”

He further promised their best effort to track the culprits.

ADC Churachandpur chairman Langkhanpau Guite said he and his colleague were also pained by the incident.

The chief of Hiangtam Lamka and the area’s MDC and EM of ADC said that he was feeling fed-up of this kind of crimes as is being witnessed very often in recent times.

He said fitting action must be taken by the authorities concerned to check this kind of crimes.

Meanwhile, a memorandum was submitted to the DC regarding the incident.

The memorandum stated that although the police has been investigating the case under FIR No 89 (10) 2015 CCP PS there has been not musch headway except for the arrest of a suspect.

Meanwhile, the crowd that had had gathered for the rally thinned out after the YPA leadership appealed to cancelled the proposed rally.

Meanwhile, the total bandh imposed in the town was a total success with shops remaining closed and few vehicles plying on the road.

Volunteers of YPA led their president Thangzamoi were also seen guarding road intersections in different points like at the Mission Veng-Zomi Colony -Sialmat Junction till 6 pm.

In the late afternoon the leaders of YPA expressed their heartfelt thanks to the people for their co-operation.
