IMPHAL, December 30: The BJP Manipur president, Th Chaoba has claimed that the reason why the Congress party is fielding only 199 candidates against 279 seats for the upcoming local civic bodies election is nothing but a clear indication that people have lost their faith on them.
The BJP president stated this during the flag hosting ceremony of BJP candidate of Lilong Municipal Council Ward number 9 Mayanglambam Ongbi Bimolata Devi today at Lilong Arapti Awang leikai. Chaoba continued that the congress has been ruling Manipur since 2002 enjoying every bit of the uber lifestyle by looting public coffer however this time their (congress) regime is nearing the end.
He asserted that the failure of congress to filed its candidates in all the seats in Chief Minister’s own constituency of Thoubal speaks for itself how badly wounded the congress party is.
Moreover, the congress has also failed to field any of its candidates in Agriculture Minister’s constituency Lilong in the coming civic election, he said.
Expressing his confidence that BJP and Independent candidates will govern the coming Municipal Councils, Chaoba said that the BJP will emerge as victorious in atleast 10 Municipal councils.
Chaoba disclosed that some of the congress MLAs has started knocking the door of BJP seeking recommendation from the high command with regards to general assembly election likely to be held in 2017.
He further maintained that the MLAs are planning to mount pressure for reshuffle and are ready to leave congress party if their demands are not fulfilled.
Antas Khan Vice-President BJP Yuva Morcha, terming the recent announcement made by local MLA Thamarjit to construct Yaibi Bridge just as the election is round the corner, questioned what he (MLA) has been doing the past four years?
He said that the MLA has violated the election model code of conduct.
The flag hoisting ceremony was also attended by BJP senior leaders including Okram Joy, K Sarat, S Lala etc.
