Dr Palin honoured with Indian Healthcare Ambassador of the Year

IMPHAL, Dec 26: Dr Palin Khundongbam was awarded “The Indian Healthcare Ambassador of the Year” at the Six Sigma Healthcare Excellence Awards on December 26 held at The Leela Ambience Hotel, Gurgaon, conveyed a press release of Shija Hospitals & Research Institute.

The award ceremony was part of the “World Entrepreneurship Summit in Healthcare -The Leaders who Inspire Healthcare”. The title was honoured in recognition of his achievements, diligence and sustained contributions to the healthcare delivery system in the society and the neighbouring country, Myanmar.

It said the award acknowledged his initiatives to extend healthcare service to the neighbouring country, Myanmar under “Mission Myanmar” which was conducted in three different phases.

Free cleft lip and palate, key hole and cataract blindness operations were performed at Monywa General Hospital, Myanmar during the mission. The surgery camps were jointly organized by Government of Sagaing (Myanmar), Government of Manipur, Indian Consul General, Mandalay, Smile Train Shija Cleft Project, Shija Eye Care Foundation and AMASI (Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India).

Also, two surgeons and six nurses of Monywa General Hospital, Myanmar were given three months free of cost training on Key-Hole Surgery and Critical Care at Shija Hospitals under Shija Overseas Training Program, added the release.
