Gaikhangam fires salvo at BJP, trumps Indian secularism

BISHNUPUR, December 10: Asserting that knowledge and wisdom can only overcome anti-unity and anti-diversity movement, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam who also holds the Home portfolio maintained that secularism in India is one thing which its people should be proud of.

The Dy CM was gracing a one-day Youth Congress Conference on ‘’Secularism: The Force Behind India’ organized by Bishnupur Block Youth Congress at Ningthoukhong Kha Mamang Multipurpose Indoor Stadium, Bishnupur district today.

Addressing the gathering as chief guest, Gaikhangam who is also the president of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPSC) said that the conference was held with the aim to aware the people of Indian Constitution preambles.

Launching a scathing attack on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he charged the party of adopting hidden agendas and gaining political mileage in the name of religion and caste.

Stating that people belonging to different communities have been coexisting in the State since time immemorial, the Dy CM said that it is up to the people to decide which political party is trying to disintegrate the State just to establish its presence.

He also alleged Naga People’s Front (NPF) of uniting with BJP in the last ADC election only to woo voters.

Chairman of PDA T Mangibabu who attended the conference as a guest of honour said that preambles of the Indian Constitution is the ideologies of the Congress party as the Constitution was framed by Indian National Congress (INC) after gaining independence from the British colonial rule.

Minister of Commerce & Industries and Seri, Vety & Animal Husbandry Govindas Konthoujam; Parliamentary Secretary (Youth Affairs, Sports & Tourism) M Prithviraj and MLA Kumbi constituency S Bira were also present at the conference as president and guests of honour respectively.
