IMPHAL, Dec 1: A truck driver was killed while several other workers suffered injuries when their truck went off track and fell into a deep gorge near Khulbung village under Tousem Police Station in Tamenglong district this morning around 7.30.
Reports said the truck was carrying workers engaged in the construction of Imphal-Jiribam Railway Line when its driver lost control and plunged into a gorge killing the driver.
The deceased has been identified as Dipu Das, 30 son of Holindro Das from Palanpur, Cachar. He was rushed to a nearby health centre for treatment but died on the way.
Police have registered a case in connection with the incident, the reports stated.
