IMPHAL December 18: Independent candidate of Wangoi Municipal Council constituency Ward No 3 Thoidingjam Imoba Singh has alleged that the nomination of a candidate which was rejected during scrutiny has been accepted by the concerned officials.
Speaking to media persons during a press conference held at the Manipur Press Club today, Imoba who was also accompanied by his proposor W Jitendra Singh and other supporters said W Sushil Kumar an independent candidate of Ward no 3 Wangoi Municipal Council for the January 21, 2016 election had filed his nomination on December 14.
However the following day during scrutiny, his candidature was rejected as he was found to be a skilled worker employee in the department of Wangoi Municipal Council Ward Development Committee under MAHUD.
Due to his inability to defend his claim with supportive documents, the returning officer SDO Dolly had rejected his candidature during the scrutiny, he claimed.
Interestingly, on December 16, we learnt that W Sushil Kumar’s nomination was accepted and approved, he further alleged.
The RO has informed that she had consulted the higher authorities on the issue following which the nomination was accepted, however, she has refused to show the relevant documents for the U-turn, he further claimed.
This is unfortunate, he added.
