Pre-merger political status meeting held

IMPHAL, Dec 2: The Coalition for Indigenes’ Rights Campaign (CIRCA) in collaboration with the Chaokhat Thourang Nupi Lup, Yumnam Huidrom, Yumnam Huidrom Makha Leikai Youth Unity and Development Organisation held a discussion on “Pre-merger Political Status” at Yumnam Huidrom.

The discussion was attended by village elders Elangbam Budhi and Elangbam Tomchou and CIRCA convenor Somorendro Thokchom and co-convener Waikhom Ananada meetei, according to a statement of the CIRCA.

It said the preparations for the 1st North East Indigenous People’s parliament, 2015 which will be hosted by CIRCA and held from December 8 to 10 at the Khuman Lampak Sports Complex Kangshang is also almost complete.

The parliament will be attended by representatives of all indigenous communities of the North East India, it said.

All indigenous communities of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Tripura and Manipur will send two representatives each to attend the session, it said.

CIRCA further sought assistance from all sections of the society to make the session a success.
