Woman claims forensic report of ‘raped’ daughter still awaited

IMPHAL, December 26: A woman has claimed that result of the forensic test conducted on her young daughter, a rape survivor at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Science on December 21 is still awaited.

Speaking to media persons today, the mother urged the authorities to deliver justice to her young daughter and book the culprits according to the law at the earliest.

Meanwhile, Bangka Bihari OC of the Lilong Police Station where a case had been registered against the alleged rape said that the accused is willing to surrender before the police by early tomorrow morning.

The OC said the accused has been on the run and been staying in New Delhi along with his family since December 9 when the alleged raped happened. However it is learnt that the accused has returned home and is willing to surrender by tomorrow morning, he said.

During a meeting with a team of media persons and members of the Women Action for Development, the woman said on December 9, her 13-year old daughter was returning home from school, when she was forcibly taken away by the accused and two of his friends.

She identified the accused as Jamin Hussain, 22, son of (L) Md Kora of Lilong and studying BA 5th semester.

She said the accused after making the girl unconscious by hitting her hard, sexually assaulted her.

She continued when her daughter came to her senses she found herself bleeding profusely, and that the two accomplices had already left. The accused than first warned her against reporting the incident to anyone and then later tried to calm her by assuring her to take her as his wife within a week’s time, she said.

She said the accused had also threatened her daughter to kill her and her family and hence she had stayed silent for a week.

The mother said her daughter told her of the incident only after about a week.

On learning about the incident, the family filed a report with the Lilong Police Station on December 18 and accordingly an FIR was registered the next day. The case was however transferred to the Thoubal Women Police Station where another FIR was filed. The FIR being FIR No 33 (12) 2015 WPS-Tbl, corresponding FIR No 87 (12) 2015 Lil-PS U/s 366/34 IPC & Sec 4 of POCSO Act 2012.

In relation with the case, the Lilong Police have already seized the involved Maruti A Star car and recorded the victim’s statement.

It is said that the juvenile victim was made to appear at the Police Station for recording of the statement and she had to face uniformed police personnel for the same.
