ZYF endorses UNC stand against Dy CM

KANGPOKPI, December 14: A day after the United Naga Council (UNC) has expressed its opposition to inviting of Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam by AZSU (AMN) for the birth centenary celebration of Rani Gaidinliu cum Golden Jubilee at Thanagong village under Khoupum Valley, the Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF) has also endorsed the stance of the apex body.

The ZYF press statement alleged that, despite the public understanding of the present social-political turmoil in Manipur, where the rights and identity of the tribals and Nagas has been compromised by certain elements including the Dy.CM, the decision of the organizers to invite him in such programme is questionable and suspicious.

“The hidden policies of some few individual by taking the name of a student body and attempting to undermine the public’s sentiments and movement will not be tolerated”, it added.

It further said that the ZYF will strongly abide by UNC’s decision passed during the Naga People’s convention (NPC) 2010 wherein the Nagas of Manipur to severe all political ties with Manipur Government.

Moreover, the present anti-tribal move of the communal Manipur Government operating at the behest of some elected members like Dy.CM who also holds Home department is openly known to the public, for which such individuals or elements cannot be allowed in our land, it added.

The ZYF therefore appeals to the concerned body and organizing team that, it is in best interest of the General public especially considering the sentiments of the Tribals and Nagas in particular the review the invitation to the Dy.CM and boycott those anti-people individuals said the student body.
