IMPHAL, January 9: The “10th Apex Craft Bazar 2016” exhibition being organized by Manipur Apex Handloom Weavers & Handicrafts Artisans’ CS Ltd, Paona Bazar under the sponsorship of Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textile began today at Social Upliftment Organization Complex, Singjamei Bazar, Imphal West.
The inaugural function was attended by Elangbam Jeeten Singh, Deputy Director of Industries (HC) and OSD (Policy), Directorate of Commerce & Industries, Manipur; M Satyabhama Devi, president of AWAS; and T Rolle Vareishim, Assistant Director (H), Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textile, Government of India, M & SEC, Imphal as chief guest, president and guest of honor respectively.
PHE & Labour Minister I Hemochandra who is also the local MLA was supposed to attend the function as the chief guest of the function; however, he did not turn up.
The exhibition will conclude on January 18.
The exhibition has participation from all the nine districts and there will be some discounts on handicraft products, said AWAS president Satyabhama speaking to media persons.
