BJP extends assistance to Noney

IMPHAL, January 5: A team of BJP Manipur led by its newly elected MLA from Thongju, Thongam Bishwajit has extended assistance to quake affected villages of Noney which is also the constituency of the Deputy Chief Minister.

The BJP MLA and his team personally inspected and met affected families of Longmai (Noney) area the epicentre of the 6.8 magnitude quake.

During the visit the BJP team extended financial support and handed out essential commodities to families affected by the quake.

About five village churches, several houses and Educational Institutes were found in a fragile condition with severe cracks developing in most of the structures.

The Noney public drew the attention of the MLA for urgent need of medical camp and safe drinking water in all the villages.

The villagers informed that most of the water sources that have been using by them have turned murky a day after the earthquake struck.

Left with no other choice the villagers they had to use the murky water, said the villagers adding that they are now experiencing widespread headache.

The villagers expressed their discontentment over the attitude of the Government for allegedly remaining silent so far.

“We have been given step motherly treatment by the Government especially our local MLA who have not visited our area”, lamented a villager.

The BJP MLA, calming the disgruntled locals assured that his assessment report of the epicentre area will sent to central government and sought for necessary support for Noney.

Speaking to a group of media persons at Noney, MLA Bishwajit has lauded the initiative taken by Indian Government led by Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath who have sendt two NDRF team immediately after the earthquake besides sending two Union Ministers to assess the situation here in Manipur.

He asked the Government of Manipur where the disaster management department is when the state needed them most.

Th Bishwajit further alleged that the state Government have failed miserably to response to the current crisis that has been witnessing.

He said that the state forces deployed in various places of state must be trained well as they will be the first to response to any disaster like search and rescue operation.

Bishwajit expressed his shocked for the fact that state Government has not reached the epicentre.

According to BJP Manipur Pradesh spokesperson, RK Shivachandra, the PDS item distributed to the quake affected Noney villagers was deducted from share of Thongju people who had willingly sacrifice their monthly quota.

In today’s visit BJP MLA also met the leaders of Noney Longmai-1Youth club, Zeliangrong Student Union Manipur and village elders.
