Computer shops raided

IMPHAL, Jan 29: A team of city police raided three computer shops at Thangal bazaar and seized a cache of spurious HP products on January 27.

The raid was conducted on BCS Peripherals (HP) Kanglapark, MG Avenue Junction, opposite Moreh parking, Imphal, Tampha Infotech (HP Lead) Paona International Market and Computer Care, Kangla Park, MG Avenue.

Besides seizure of spurious items, the owners of the shops were also taken into custody by the police under IPC 420/120 B IPC and 63 copyright Act 1957. The trio was however released on bail today.

The police team conducted the raid following a complaint lodged by Shubhasish Dey of EIPR (India) Pvt. Limited for selling the spurious HP products in the open market without obtaining permission from the appropriate authority.
