IMPHAL, Jan 30: In an unfortunate road accident this morning around 9:36, the driver of a Maruti van ferrying students succumbed to his injury, while as many as 20 others including 13 school kids were injured.
The school kids were travelling in the van.
According to eye witness, the van bearing registration No. MN-01/W-5941 and carrying children of PP Kids Foundation of Kwakeithel Thounaojam Leikai, rammed into a Tata Magic passenger vehicle which was stationed on the road.
The deceased driver has been identified as Koijam Mangijao Singh, 36, son of K Ahongjao Singh of Meitram Awang Leikai, Imphal.
The 13 injured children were immediately rushed to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Lamphelpat.
Among them 2 kids were later shifted to Shija hospital and Raj Medicity respectively for further treatment. Injured passengers who were travelling in Tata Magic are reportedly out of danger. A VDF personnel posted near the Kwakeithel Crossing was also injured in the accident.
