IMPHAL, Jan 20: Governor V Shanmuganathan has extended warm greetings to the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of Manipur Statehood’s Day, 2016.
In a message, the Governor said, ‘’Dream of people of Manipur came true when the State became a full-fledged State of the Indian union on January 21, 1972. Manipur became equal partner with other states in building a modern India and along with responsibilities and opportunities’’.
Since attaining statehood, Manipur has been making rapid progress in the different fields of development. There is a need to sustain this pace to march in tandem with the rest of the country. But Manipur is still lagging behind and welfare measures need to be pursued more vigorously, based on equity where all citizens of the State irrespective of caste, creed or religion feel the sense of belongingness to an egalitarian society, the Governor stated in the message.
He urged the people to come together and work relentlessly to make Manipur a peaceful and prosperous State.
