BISHNUPUR, January 17: Owing to the indefinite Tiddim Road bandh imposed by JAC Tiddim along with several other organizations from this morning in protest against the government’s decision of renaming Thangjing Sub-Division as Thangting Sub-Division and Moirang Ibudhou Thangjing, normal life in Bishnupur district was greatly affected.
Markets at Phubala, Moirang Lamkhai, Moirang Kumbi and Kwakta were downed shutter. Movement of inter district passenger vehicles along the road was minimal due to the bandh.
However, there was no vehicular movement from Phubala area. Women folks staged sit-in-protest demonstrations in condemnation of the government’s decision.
The women folks placed benches at Terakhongshangbi and Kangbai blocking traffic movement.
However, educational institutions, religious, medical and airport services were exempted from the purview of the bandh.
According to the agitators, the indefinite bandh will continue till the government come up with an amicable solution to the matter.
