Photos of minors allegedly used as campaign posters

IMPHAL, January 4: An INC candidate from Mayang Imphal ward 1, Municipal Council has been alleged of using minor photos in his campaign stand posters, by his rival candidate.

Speaking to media persons in a press conference held today at Manipur Press Club, Sanglakpam Ibochouba Sharma an agent of the rival candidate informed that a petition has been sent to the State Election Commission to take action against, the INC candidate identified as Shyamchandra Singh, for his illegitimate campaign.

Ibochou further said that in the petition it drew the attention of the Election Commission to disqualify the INC candidate by January 7 from contesting in the upcoming Panchayat election scheduled to be held on January 11.

If the outcome of the petition served turned out to be negative we are prepared to seek legal help, continued Ibochou.

Similar complaint has also been sent to the Returning Officer, SDO of Wangoi; State Election Commission on December 30, 2015 and Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Right on January 4, he said.

According to Ibochou, the INC candidate, was allegedly using photos of minors to get sympathy vote from parents adding that strongly condemned the very act.

Meanwhile, denying the report the INC candidate Shyamchandra Singh, also petitioned the Secretary State Election Commission, Government of Manipur to take appropriate action against Ibochou and his candidate Ksh Memcha Devi, an Independent candidate, for spreading rumours of his disqualification.
