Six killed, 69 hurt

IMPHAL, January 4: At least six persons are confirmed killed in today’s quake. Most succumbed to injuries sustained when the structure collapsed and some were crushed on the spot. A woman and her granddaughter were killed when the concrete roofing collapsed. The woman is identified as wife of Bhim Bahadur namely Debumaya Mote, 55, and her grand- daughter Darsha Mote, 11, resident of Premnagar, Leimakhong under Sekmai Police Station. They were sleeping at the same bed, when the walls of the concrete building collapsed and the roofing fell down on them.

Dijapati, 17, daughter of Opendro Namasandra, resident of Chandranathpur Latingkhal under Borobekra Police Station, Jiribam

Moirangthem Sarat, 56, son of M Tomba , resident of Luwangshangbam Makha Leikai under Heingang Police Station. He succumbed to injuries at Raj Medicity.

Miss Geeta Rimal, 19, daughter of Ruk Narayan Rimal of P Maulding Nepali Part-1 under Sapermeina Police Station of Sadar Hills.

There are presently 39 hospitalised at RIMS, 14 at JNIMS, 4 at SHRI and 4 at Raj Medicity. Some have been discharged. Raj Medicity MD, H Rajen announced that the treatment cost and medicine will be borne by the hospital for the earthquake victims.
