AMSU asks NSF to revoke ban decision

IMPHAL, February 14: The All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) has asked the Naga Students Federation to revoke its ban on Meitei/Manipur vehicles in the Naga populated area in the large public interest and especially considering the students appearing for their Class X and Class XII examinations.

Speaking to media persons in their office today, AMSU secretary general Manjit Sarangthem said about 32 different communities are settled in the State since time immemorial.

The NSF targeting only one community is highly condemnable and at the same time will create communal tension among the communities, he warned.

Manjit also urged the State government to take-up necessary actions against any police commandos proved guilty.

The student leader claimed that NH-2 (Imphal-Dimapur) road is lifeline of Manipur. Many unwanted incidents have occurred along this route, he said urging all concerns to stop such acts in the future.

People of Nagaland will feel the same if people from another State do the same to them, he added.

AMSU urged the concern organisations or individuals to immediately hand over the truck vehicle documents to their respective truck drivers or owners which have been seized during the NSF ban.

Meanwhile, suspected Naga Students Federation ban supporters snatch about 40 trucks vehicle documents near Mayangkhong Ningthoupam T Khullen today.
