IMPHAL, February 28: Chief Minister Okram Ibobi must sack not only his home minister, but his entire Council of Ministers immediately said L Basanta General Secretary Media of the BJP State unit.

Speaking to the media at the office of the BJP today, he said 20 Congress MLAs have pressured for the revocation of the suspension order on five police personnel in connection with the communal tension created by the Naga Students Federation, NSF, blockade on Meitei vehicles on the highways.

Though the Home Minister had stated that the police personnel were not guilty on the floor of the Assembly, the government went ahead and suspended the five police personnel later the same day.

He said in this connection, 20 Congress MLAs have now revolted and demand the resignation of State home minister, Gaikhangam from his post. But the BJP will demand not just a voluntary resignation of Gaikhangam, but for the Chief Minister to sack him and his Council of Ministers immediately.

He further said Police modernization is not only about gearing the force with sophisticate weapon but more so about boosting the moral of the personnel by extending especial police modernization training to them.

He said the authority should also give lessons on how they should behave towards the civil population.

The BJP does not believe that only Police commandos can handle the State’s law and order situation, or maintain peace in such a multi-community State like Manipur if not properly trained for this specific situation. The need is precisely to give them such training, he added.

Now the state situation in various sections is very critical, Basanta said. This is no time to stay mute on issues of the State, he said.

The BJP now has two MLAs in Assembly and we will expose every misdeed of the government. He also called for the cooperation of the people to change present system for betterment of Manipur Basanta said.

M Asnikumar General Secreary Administration of the BJP said that the recently presented State Budget 2016-17 by the Finance Minister Okram Ibobi in Assembly is anti-farmer.

Agriculture and allied sectors need boosting up now and only this can change the economy of State for the better but the Ibobi Budget ignored this sector altogether, he charged.

The State government has not even bothered to implement the Prime Minister Krishan Sangsat Yojana (PMKSY) for development of agriculture and irrigation for farmers, he further said.

As per the pledge of the PMKSY, every district has to form a District Irrigation Planning Committee, and DCs should be chairman of these committees.

However, there has been no such committee formed in the State so far and no plan has been submitted to Union Ministry of Agriculture government of India till today. “It is very clear that Congress government is totally neglecting farmer’s right in Manipur” he accused.

At present Manipur is facing major drinking water crisis as well as farm irrigation. If there had been proper water management these problems should not have been faced at all, he said.

He said on December 28, 2012, the then Union Minister of Water Resource Harish Rawat during UPA government held a national meeting on National Water Policy. In that meeting the Central government had directed implementation of Water Management Policy in every State of India.

Unfortunately, for Manipur only IFCD commissioner and Chief Engineer were represent in the meeting where various Water Resource Ministers of other States attended for the vital discussion, he alleged.
