IMPHAL, February 11: A mass rally was taken out today at the Chandel district headquarters demanding the immediate implementation of Manipur State Action Plan on Climate Change (MSAPCC).

The rally was jointly organised by the Chandel District Farmers’ Union (CDFU), Chakpi River Progressive and Development Society (CRPDS), Maha Area Chief Association Chandel (MACAC), Peoples’ Development Organisation (PDO) and, Forest Natural Resources Management and Environment Development Council (FNRMEDC).

The rally took part by several civil bodies including farmers after converging at the Chandel Indoor Stadium held a public meeting and marched till the DC Lamkhai.

Placards which says “Save the Indigenous People”, “Stop Burning of Forest”, “stop using dynamite and electricity device”, “save environment and forest”, and “Save Drinking Water,” were displayed during the rally.

FNRMEDC president PS Ngamlung Anal, speaking on the sideline of the rally said that our demand is to implement the MSAPCC at the earliest.

He further informed that a memorandum will be submitted to Central Home Ministry, Rajnath Singh to appeal the Union Government to give strong instruction to the Government of Manipur to implement MSAPCC.

Ngamlung Anal further appealed the state Government to discussed the matter during the ensuing Assembly session.
