KSO and ANSAM warn to resume suspended stir

KANGPOKPI, February 12: Kuki Students’ Organization (GHQ) and All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM) today augured to resume its temporarily suspended indefinite national highways bandh from February 17 midnight.

The decision of the two student bodies to resume their suspended stir has been taken in the joint meeting held today at Imphal.

The joint press release of the two organization said the cabinet decision to renege on its assurance of fulfilling the demands of the two student bodies has necessitate the two organisations to resume enforcement of indefinite bandh on the three national highways.

It continued that it is an insult and mockery on the part of Government of Manipur to make various assurances to redress the long pending issues while adding that it is very much unwise and injustice on the part of the Manipur Government for the apathy and lukewarm attitudes toward the regularization of the hills school contract basis teachers 2006 batch and to provide adequate teachers to the hills schools under the directorate of education (s).

The student bodies recalled that the National Highway Bandh had been temporarily suspended after assurance to redress the long pending issues within the stipulated 10 days period in a meeting held at office chamber of Education Minister with the presence of IFCD Minister Ngamthang Haokip and other government authorities on February 1.

However, till today no positive measures have been ruled out, it added.

The resume indefinite National Highways bandh will not affect the inter district transport system particularly the transport service from the respective districts to Imphal via Imphal to respective districts.

However, trucks and inter-state passenger buses with laden goods should be under the purview of the bandh, it said.
