‘Maintain guidelines, rule right in tender process’

KANGPOKPI, February 7: Worried and vexed over the over the alleged shoddy quality of PMGSY implementation and other projects in Saikul assembly constituency, Kuki Inpi Saikul Gamkai (KISG) today announced that civil bodies of Saikul will begin monitoring the project works taken up in the constituency.

While rticulating the whole host concerned of the civil bodies and Kuki Inpi Saikul Gamkai, Thangkam Lupheng, president of KISG lamented that implementation of PMGSY and other infrastructural works/projects in Saikul AC for the past many years had been scarce of quality and refined maintenance.

Blaming the below schedule rate quotation by the agencies and contractors concerned during tender process for the trashy quality while implementing the works, KISG supremo said that any willing contractors or agencies to work in the constituency must strictly adhere to the prescribed guidelines and rules in the tender process.

“Any agencies or contractors willing to work in Saikul AC should not quote unreasonably low rates below the schedule rate at the time of tender process to get the works”, cautioned Lupheng before adding that people of Saikul will no more tolerate such laissez-faire attitude of the agencies or contractors.

Kuki Inpi Saikul Gamkai also warned the concerned department not to entertain such agencies or contractors who submitted the tenders below the schedule rate of the department to work in the constituency.

He recalled the crumbled incident of Tribal Market Complex building at Saikul Bazar in the recent earthquake. He also pointed out that the disappointing incident could have been avoided if proper quality was maintained during the construction of the building by the engineers and department concerned.
