Rail line affected villagers pray for equal compensation

IMPHAL, Feb 26: The Railway affected farmers of Konthoujam today announced that they will not settle for any land compensation lower than the land value of the neighbouring areas which are also affected by the railline like Bamdiar, Yurembam and Malom.

This was declared by president of the Railway Affected Farmers Konthoujam Kh Sanajoaba Meitei during a press meet.

The farmers of Konthoujam and Lansonbi villages who are affected by the railway cannot tolerate any discrimination in payment of compensation, Sanajoaba said the government is trying to pay only Rs 5 lakh per acre of land to the said villagers while providing Rs 40-50 lakhs per acre in the neighbouring villages.
